Every night at our house, the girls go through their little evening ritual: we make sure the doors are locked, the lights are off, the curtains are closed, and their clothes for morning are laid out where they will be able to find them. To these little girls, “closed” is a good thing! They seem to feel safe and secure when they know that our family is “closed” in our house when night time comes. Sometimes “closed” is a very good thing!
Other times, however, I am reminded how important it is that we don’t become “closed” to the truth around us, the friends and experiences that could bring such blessings into our lives, and God’s grace which is evident every where we look. This picture of a door in our neighborhood on an old shed always makes me think of “closed” in all of its positive and negative implications. I hope that I can remember which doors to close in my life for safety and protection, and which doors I need to throw wide open to receive God’s blessings. How about you? Is the door to your heart open or closed today? Have a great Wednesday! ~~ Nina
