“Beyond the Bunny” by Julie from Happy Home Fairy

Beyond the Bunny LOGOAs a mom and grandma (Vintage Mama covers it all!) I have always been interested in finding fun projects to do with my kiddos. So in addition to doing the typical, everyday activities like reading together, family fun night, chores, piano lessons and athletic practices, it is fun to do a few creative projects, too. After many years of coming up with my own ideas (back in the Dark Ages when my big kids were small), it is such a joy to discover the world of mommy bloggers!

The other day while I was searching for a few fun and creative ideas for Easter projects, I came across Julie’s blog, Happy Home Fairy, and was amazed at all of her great family time activities. With her permission, we shared a few of her ideas in the March issue of the Ruby for Women magazine, and I am excited to be able to share her incredible creativity with you. Here are just a few of her Easter ideas, designed to help our children remember the true meaning of our Easter celebrations. Please visit Julie at the Happy Home Fairy for many more family fun time ideas to share with YOUR sweet family.

Children love to tell stories, so why not help them to tell the story of Jesus on Easter morning? This Easter Garden is a wonderful project to do together, and gives the kiddos a hands-on opportunity to recreate the scene of the Resurrection.

The tomb is made from a small terra cotta pot with Matthew 27:59-60 written on it: Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.”

Then, on Easter morning, the stone is rolled away with the joyous announcement: “He is not here! He has risen!” Matthew 28:6.

What a fun tradition that the children will look forward to for years to come.

Resurrection Eggs

Resurrection Eggs are PERFECT for helping bring the Easter story to life with your Happy Buddies. 12 eggs are filled with a different object and Bible verse that help tell the true message of Easter, beginning with a small plastic donkey symbolizing Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and ending with an empty egg symbolizing Christ’s resurrection.

Joy Journey and eggsThe Joy Journey

Hebrews 12:2 says, “We must never stop looking to Jesus. He is the leader of our faith, and he is the one who makes our faith complete. He suffered death on a cross. But he accepted the shame of the cross as if it were nothing because of the joy he could see waiting for him. And now he is sitting at the right side of God’s throne.”
