Autumn is our favorite time of year here at Vintage Mama’s Cottage! Even though our yard is surrounded by a lovely woods and so we have tons of leaves to rake up every year, we love the cooler weather and the celebrations of autumn. Yesterday the girls and I swept all of the fallen leaves from our front porch and raked them up into big piles. We felt like pioneers as we hauled those piles of leaves in the big old wheelbarrow out into the woods and dumped them there.
Then we scrubbed the deck boards that we had painted white earlier in the summer and swept off the bricks surrounding the front steps. We put out our autumn decorations and stood back to admire our little corner of the world. Even though we live in a fairly small house, and it is nothing fancy at all (especially compared to some of the gorgeous, BIG houses in our neighborhood that have beautiful lakefront views!), but it is ours and we will do our best to take care of it.
On the rainy days we’ve been working on a pretty big project indoors. We have been sorting and organizing all of the “stuff” from the craft / sewing room, as well as many boxes of other “stuff” that had accumulated in our garage. It is amazing how much “stuff” we accumulate, especially when we need something for a project and can’t find what we already have – so we go out a buy MORE “stuff”!
In between sorting out boxes and baskets of “stuff,” we tried to do a few fun things along the way, too. One of the craft projects that we wanted to work on before Thanksgiving is this “Give Thanks” celebration banner. We’re almost finished emptying out all of those boxes and baskets of “stuff” (loads and loads of extra “stuff” is going to our favorite Goodwill store and some of the extra craft and sewing “stuff” will be listed in our little Etsy shop!), so the plan is to make a few more autumn banners and write up a tutorial to go along with them.
If you would like to make your own “Give Thanks” celebration banner, be watching for the tutorial that will be posted later this week. Email me at AngelBabiesBoutique@msn.com – I love to hear from my readers!
