How fun is this??? My Father’s Day Banner Card tutorial is featured at Create with Joy today on the weekly Inspire Me Monday blog hop ;o) The girls and I have been working on another banner card for our Grandpa and I had planned to post pictures of it today so you can see another version of this project made from the tutorial I posted last week.
This time we used scrapbook papers and other embellishments in shades of dark brown, ivory, and light blue with a few accents in navy blue and gold. The brown letters from Granny Enchanted are perfect, along with a few vintage buttons and some cut outs from coordinating scrapbook paper. I also found several printable images such as ribbons and braids on Granny Enchanted’s website which worked great with our masculine theme.
We found one lonely goldtone leaf button and a rhinestone gem added a bit of sparkle. A couple of tags cut from coordinating scrapbook paper brought a bit more vintage charm, and vintage stamp images cut out from another piece of scrapbook paper keeps the old-time feel to our banner card.
If you are looking for a fun and easy craft project that you can make for Father’s Day, the banner card is definitely different than the traditional tie, wallet, or socks that lots of us give to the Dads and Grandpas in our lives.
With bits and pieces and scraps of paper, ribbon, fiber, charms, vintage buttons, and any other scrapbook ephemera you can put this banner card together and make yours as simple or as elaborate as you want.
It is a great project to do with the kids because anything is OK ;o) Stick a button here or there; glue a piece of ribbon this way or that way; tie some yarn or fuzzy fibers wherever you want and have a good time . . . . . and let Dad or Grandpa know how much you love him!
And remember, you can find a TON of absolutely gorgeous alphabet letters at Granny Enchanted’s blog, along with other accessories such as printable buttons and brads, ribbons, flowers, and words to use on your project. Stop by and visit Granny Enchanted and tell her I sent you!
PS. This week we have VBS at our church and guess who is in charge? ;o) So I’ve been kind of busy getting all that stuff ready to go. We started last night and had great fun, so now that all of those preparations are taken care of, it’s back to working on the Ruby magazine for July. We will also be making a Patriotic Banner using MORE of the alphabets and embellishments from Granny Enchanted. Really . . . . you have to visit her! Then stop back here soon to see our Patriotic Banner tutorial, and have a great Father’s Day this weekend.
