Here’s a Blog Hop that I discovered recently and thought I’d share it with you this morning: “Stir, Stitch, and Straighten Up.” It is usually posted on Sundays, but I think Monday morning is a great time to get my brain focused on what I’m going to cook this week, my gazillion sewing and stitching projects, and organizing our little home. And besides that, it sometimes helps if we actually write it down and say it out loud ;o)
One of the projects that I’ve been working on gradually over the past couple of weeks (because the weather around here keeps changing back and forth from rainy and chilly to hot and sunny) is my closet. And the girls’ dresser drawers! Oh good grief! How does ALL that junk end up in their dresser drawers??? So, as often as I can fit it into my schedule, I pull out a pile of “stuff” from the closet, sort it into piles to give away, store, wash / dry clean, or keep in the closet. So far, I’ve made pretty good progress but I would really like to get it finished up this week. I don’t think the weather is going to change that dramatically again until spring, so I think I can store the summer dresses, slacks, and tops.
Another task that I have been working on a little bit at a time is our file drawers. I don’t know if I need to keep all those receipts, but just in case . . . . so I have file drawers and boxes that are full to overflowing! I bought a new file box and I have lots of hanging files and file folders, so the plan is to sort through 10 or 20 files at a time, toss out or shred stuff that we no longer need, and organize the rest of it so that when tax time rolls around, I can actually find all of the paperwork and documents needed to get THAT task taken care of without spending days and days of my life searching for things.
What are you working on today? In my spare time ;o) I am writing a series that will be available soon entitled, “7 Days to Cut Through the Clutter and Catch Your Breath.” I’m on Day 5, which just happens to be on the topic of Conquering Closets and Dresser Drawers! I’ll let you know when it is ready to send out, hopefully yet this week. Besides all of those projects, the refashioning projects are coming along nicely, too. Yesterday I completed a gorgeous sweater coat in shades of denim blue, dusty pink, and ivory. The next project will be for the book proposal that will be submitted to C & T Publications on the topic of refashioning and reconstructing sweaters. Trying to think of a proposed title . . . . . “Cut-Ups: Refashion Your Old Sweaters” or something a bit more creative, but I think my brain is in overload this morning!
Have a great Monday, and pop on over to the “Stir, Stitch, and Straighten Up” blog hop and share a link to YOUR post on what’s going on in your little world this week.
