For so many months now we’ve been trying to get all of our “ducks” in a row (so to speak!) to rebuild the Vintage Mama’s Cottage brand. Since we’ve been doing the refashioned clothing for almost seven years, and children’s clothing and eBook patterns for over 10 years, this wasn’t exactly a brand new venture, but after having to put it all on the back burner for a couple of years while I held a JOB away from home, it has taken a lot of time, energy, and investment to get things rolling in the right direction again.
Our new website is almost ready; we are in the process of updating our Etsy shops and add lots more inventory; we have the opportunity to place some of our designs in a vintage boutique (more about that later!); and we are in the process of designing a completely new line of clothing for women and children.
The refashioned, upcycled, and repurposed designs will still be my main focus – because that’s what I really love to do – but we have a few other projects in the works. One of the new projects requires a patent search so that will take a bit of time and financial investment, but it is very promising!
I will be participating in a business venture training program beginning in February, and I am really looking forward to learning more about building a business, establishing a marketing plan, inventory and manufacturing processes, and perhaps even learn about investments and financing for future ventures.
All of this has kept my mind focused on other projects, and I have not been keeping up with my blogging responsibilities ;o) Things are really coming together and we are gaining traction with this project – the various pieces are finally falling into place, and it looks like this just might be the end of the beginning!
Now it’s on the the real task of organizing, planning, designing and creating, marketing and advertising, building inventory, designing a new line of clothing, figuring out how to do a patent search . . . and on, and on, and on it goes. As soon as we get the patent search taken care of, we can announce our plans for that phase of our business.
In the meantime, here is one of the sweater coats from the Tatters to Treasures Collection from Vintage Mama’s Cottage. This is the Caramel Latte Patchwork Sweater Coat, available from our Etsy Shop.
This is the last batch of the winter designs, so we are on to designing and creating new items for spring. Our plans include lightweight sweaters, skirts, tops, and dresses. Be watching for the announcement about all of our upcoming projects!
