Thursday Favorite Things: Clean Laundry

I confess . . . . I love the opportunity of getting everything organized, washed, and back to normal after the holidays. Don’t get me wrong. I love everything that comes with the celebration of Christmas and fun and festivities of the entire holiday season. But once January sneeks up on us, I am ready to move forward. Out with the old and in with the new!

Today is the first day in a couple of weeks that it has been quiet around here long enough for me to think and plan. And the first thing that I need to do is to get some of this clutter picked up, the laundry washed, and make room where I can work on a few of the craft projects that I have planned. It is kind of tricky to work on a sewing project or a craft project in the middle of a great big mess, so first things first!

The sun is shining and it is cold outside, but it is a bit warmer than it was yesterday! There is snow on the ground, but the roads are clear and dry so that helps with any errands that need to be taken care of. So in between paying bills, changing bed sheets, folding laundry, washing dishes, sweeping floors, and scrubbing bathrooms, there is a bit of time here and there to work on some of my writing projects. Then, once there is a return to something that resembles normalcy and order, I’m going to pull out that art journal that I”m working on this year (more about that in another post), and put together a fun winter wall hanging craft.

But for now, there is just something that feels very productive and peaceful to see the clean laundry all neatly folded in piles. Oh, I know, no one will die if they have to pull a pair of jeans out of the dryer. Shoot, they won’t die if they have to pull a pair of jeans out of the dirty clothes piled up in the laundry room. But this isn’t about “them,” it’s about me and the fact that my stress level goes way down when I can walk from the dining room, through the kitchen, and out the door to the garage without tripping and falling on my face.

I love clean laundry and a tidy house. And since today is Thursday and every Thursday I get to blog about my favorite things, that’s the topic of the day. This time it IS about me, and that’s what is important to me. The family seems to like it, too, so I guess we are moving in a good direction this brand-new year!

Have a great Thursday, and please join us for the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop  hosted by Katherine of Katherine’s Corner. Leave a link to your post telling us about your favorite things today. Looking forward to connecting with you all soon!  Nina

Already following but now I have your button on my blog, don’t have one to share back. I too have just finished cleaning the house top to bottom and enjoying a well earned cuppa while hopping from Katherine’s Corner and reading all the great posts of the day. Cheers
