When I was just a girl, I watched as the boys in my high school went off to Viet Nam. I knew some of them well, and we just didn’t understand. One of the boys came home having lost an arm as he was leading his men in defending our way of life on the other side of the world. No one likes war. But one thing we can all agree on is that those who sacrifice so we can live in safety and freedom must never be forgotten and must always be told how much we appreciate them. This is a simple and humble expression of my gratitude.
No, this is not my picture . . . . but it expresses a bit of my heartfelt gratitude to all who have given so much that I might live in the greatest country on earth. Not perfect, but this is the place we all call home. God Bless America! And God, please bless all those who have lost loved ones and those who are suffering great pain and loss as a result of their service. Help them to know how much their sacrifice is honored and their gift to us is treasured.
