In March of 2005 our family traveled to China to Bring Annie Home. The story of how our church and community helped us Bring Annie Home is an amazing testimony to God’s grace and provision, as He used so many people (some of whom we had never even met!) to provide all that was needed to bring our special little girl home. At this season of Thanksgiving, I am reminded of all that we have to be thankful for, in every situation, even when the going gets tough, uncertain, and even frightening. He provides! He is good all the time, even when we don’t see or understand His plan.
One of my favorite songs has a line in it that is a powerful reminder to me when the days are dark and anxiety swirls around: “When you can’t see His way, when you can’t see His plan, when you can’t see His hand, trust His heart.” He knows and He cares. He protected our little girl in the midst of extreme poverty and inadequate care, love, and nutrition until we could bring her home. But we couldn’t have done it without the love and support of our friends and family and for that we will be eternally grateful. I am thankful today for this special little girl!
